SERIOUS health fears have been raised in Barrow about the installation of third generation mobile phone masts.
Hutchinson 3G has been given permission to put up two masts in Dalton to provide signals for the new technology phones.
Two other applications in Lindal and West Lodge, Abbey Road, Barrow, were refused and one at Furness Rugby Union Club, Croslands Park, was withdrawn by the company.
At the Barrow Borough Council planning meeting Councillor Dorothy Dawes raised concerns about the recent deaths of two young sportsmen, who were both pupils at Thorncliffe School in Barrow, which has an Orange communications mast on its tower block, in Thorncliffe Road.
